Mock Trial
Mock Trial is a competitive activity that teaches students about the United States' judicial process, trial procedures, and federal rules of evidence. Mock Trial teaches students how to work as team, think critically about several topics simultaneously, and apply evidentiary rules to impromptu arguments within a trial. The Memphis and Tennessee Bar Associations manage and run all HS mock trial tournaments for TN teams. - High School Mock Trial is an engaging extracurricular activity where students simulate real courtroom trials. Participants take on the roles of lawyers, witnesses, and jurors, gaining hands-on experience in legal procedures. This activity helps students develop critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills while learning about the justice system. It's a fun and competitive way to explore law and enhance their communication abilities. Mock trial is open to ALL students and you do NOT have to be interested in becoming a lawyer! Our "pre-season" starts in late September and ends in late October. The competitive season starts after Thanksgiving and we compete in mid/late February at the Memphis District Championship.
