Group Interpretation
40 points

Group Interpretation (GI) is a dynamic and creative event in competitive speech where a group of performers (typically 3 to 8 students) interpret a published literary work—like a novel, short story, or play—through vocal expression, movement, and limited props. Unlike traditional theater, GI emphasizes narration, ensemble movement, and precise timing over full-scale acting and costumes. It challenges students to think critically, collaborate intensely, and perform with energy and purpose. Group Interpretation competes in both IHSA and SSC competitions.
